Stephen Curry, in an amazing exhibition of three-point shooting, added his name to the NBA record books as the first player to make 3,500 three-pointers during the Golden State Warriors’ 124-120 win against the Brooklyn Nets. This is just after a year when Curry broke the league’s three-point record with a total summing up to 3,505 career threes; a figure that proves he is ahead by far with 532 more than Ray Allen who is next in line on that all time list.
The significance of Curry's milestone was magnified by his stellar fourth-quarter performance in the game, where he contributed 16 of his 37 points. This late-game heroics played a pivotal role in securing the Warriors' triumph and improving their season record to 11-14. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr lauded Curry's performance, expressing his perpetual amazement at the superstar's capabilities. Kerr stated, "Steph was sublime down the straight. That was unreal. We’ve seen him do this over and over again, but it never ceases to amaze me what that guy is capable of."
In the first quarter of the game, Curry managed to achieve this historical accomplishment by sinking his 3,500th three-pointer. It was a great start for Golden State at Chase Center. Although there were strong performances from Nets players such as Cam Thomas who scored 41 points, Curry took over late in the match adding 12 consecutive points in the final period.
In the absence of Draymond Green who was facing an indefinite suspension for an on-court altercation that led to his ejection in a previous game against the Phoenix Suns, the Nets took on the Warriors. The warriors were able to come out with a win against the nets even though green was not there due to a three-game losing streak. In acknowledging that they had faced adversity and come through it together Stephen Curry said; “There’s been a lot of conversations, a lot of noise around us”. Warriors won their fifth straight home game and will be facing Portland Trail Blazers next while Brooklyn Nets will face Utah Jazz.
